Critically-Injured Prasanna Acharya Airlifted To Bhubaneswar From Sambalpur
Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya, who was critically injured in a road accident late last night, was airlifted to Bhubaneswar from a private hospital in Sambalpur on Friday afternoon.
The former BJD Rajya Sabha member sustained severe injuries after his car collided with a gas tanker near Beldihi, barely 5 km from Rairakhol, around 12.30 am. The accident took place when he was travelling to Bargarh from Bhubaneswar after attending a party meeting at Naveen Niwas. He was initially taken to Rairakhol sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Sambalpur, where he received 35 stitches on his forehead and nose. The CT scan had revealed no internal injures, according to doctors.

His personal security officer (PSO) also suffered fractured ribs, while his driver sustained minor injuries.
Acharya is a frontrunner from BJD for the Rairakhol assembly segment in the upcoming elections.
