CRPF Jawan, Woman Injured In Hit-&-Run Case In Bhubaneswar; SUV Driver Held

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have arrested driver of a luxury SUV involved in a hit-and-run case in which two bike riders, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and a woman, were critically injured near Power House Square in Odisha capital on October 31 afternoon.

The accused driver has been identified as Saubhagya Kumar Bagh (33) of Kuagola village under Jamankira police limits in Sambalpur district. He was staying in Chandrasekharpur area for last few days.

Police have also seized a Range Rover SUV bearing registration number OD-23-K-0006 in connection with the accident.

According to sources, the biker and the pillion rider were thrown off the motorcycle on the busy intersection after being hit by the Range Rover, coming down from the direction of 120 battalion. The driver of the SUV then speed away with the vehicle.

On being informed, police reached the spot and rushed the injured duo to a hospital. While the CRPF jawan is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, the riding pillion has been admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and her condition is said to be critical.

A local channel reported that the luxury car is registered in the name of Armour Ray Ventures Private Limited (ARVPL), where former Minister Naba Das’ son Bishal Das is a director.
