Cuttack: As the historic Barabati Stadium in Odisha’s Cuttack city gets ready to host the T20 international cricket match between India and South Africa on Tuesday, both teams are set to attend practice session on the ground on Monday.
As per information, Indian players are scheduled to reach Cuttack and practice in the afternoon, while South Africa are set to do it under floodlights in the evening.
Meanwhile, cricket enthusiasts are excited as the practice session is open to the public at the stadium. Today’s session promises to be an exciting precursor to the November 9 match. with fans eager to catch a glimpse of the cricket stars in action.
Sources said Team India will take to the nets from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm, while South Africa will practice from 5.30 pm to 8.30 pm. The public will be allowed to witness the practice session for which Gallery numbers 6 and 7 will be thrown open.
Ahead of the mega event, players of both India and South Africa arrived in Bhubaneswar on Sunday by charter flight and moved to their hotel under tight security arrangements. The players were accorded a warm traditional welcome at the hotel amid tribal dance and drum beats.
While some South African players not part of the ODI squad had reached earlier, the rest joined the group later on Sunday.
The Commissionerate Police has deployed over 50 platoons of force and around 300 officers in and around the stadium for the match.
Traffic restrictions have been issued for the duration of net practice and match day, with priority being given to secure the movement of players to the stadium.
