[Watch] ‘Jai Jagannath, Rasagola Amara’: Cuttack Girl’s Hands-Down Reply In Reality Show
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Rasagola or Bengal’s Rasgulla. The debate over the ownership of the delectable sweet continues to rage even after both the states earned their own GI tags for the irreplaceable juicy sweet.
The latest was on a reality show, SaReGaMaPa, where popular singer Himesh Reshammiya questioned the contestants to which state the sweet belonged. ‘Rashogola Bengal ka hai ya Odisha ka?” asked Himesh.
To this, the contestants from the neighbouring state claimed it to be theirs. However, Himesh was waiting for someone from Odisha to answer the question. When it was the turn of Sthithi Padma Das from Cuttack, Himesh posed the question again.
Her reply left Odias proud and judges wide-mouthed. Das from Shelter Chowk in Cuttack began with Jai Jagannath and said “I don’t want to engage in another debate but, Rasagola is ours. I wouldn’t like to take things further but, Jai Jagannath Rasagola Amara.”

To another question from Himesh on other contestants from West Bengal also claiming so, Das said “Arguments will continue but Rasagola is ours (Odisha). We will end it here, Rasagola belongs to Odisha and Rasgulla to West Bengal,” she said, ending the discussion and winning millions of hearts.
Though she failed to qualify to the next round, Das won hearts with her reply.
The show started on October 16 and is telecast on Zee TV every Saturday and Sunday.
Das is the daughter of music composer and singer Sushil Chandra Das and the niece of popular singer Subash Das. Born and brought up in a family of musicians, Sthithi Padma started singing at the age of 4 and is now pursuing a course from Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya here.
West Bengal was awarded GI tag of Rasgulla in November 2017 and Odisha for Rasagola on July 29, 2019.
