Cuttack Man Arrested For Taking Over Rs 16 Lakh Bank Loans Posing As AIIMS Doctor

Cuttack: Police have arrested a man from the city for availing loans of over Rs 16 lakh from different banks by producing fake document identifying him as a doctor of All India Institute of Medical Science at Patna in Bihar.

According to police sources, the accused, identified as Sridhar Rout of Paika Sahi under Cuttack Sadar police limits, had taken car loan of Rs 6.5 lakh from Bajrakabati Road branch of the Union Bank of India and Rs 10 lakh from Ranihat branch of Bank of India.

Rout had produced fake PAN, Aadhaar number and bank statements in the fictitious name of Siddhant Sarthak to avail the bank loans.

When he again applied for personal loans from Union Bank of India’s Bajrakabati Road branch, the Chief Manager of the bank, Dolamani Behera, suspected something foul and verified the document. On ascertaining that those were fakes ones, Behera filed a complaint at Badamabadi police station Tuesday.

Acting on the complaint, the police conducted an investigation and arrested Rout on Thursday. Several fake documents, a stethoscope, a blood pressure checking machine,  ATM cards and several bank pass books were seized from his possession.

“We have registered a case against Rout. We are also trying to ascertain how much loan he had availed by producing fake document so far,” TOI quoted Badambadi IIC Rashmi Ranjan Mohapatra as saying.
