Cuttack: Amid growing fuel shortage across Odisha, Cuttack Mayor Subhash Singh on Saturday staged a unique protest in the city to draw attention to the issue.
Adopting a novel method of protest, Singh reached one of the closed petrol pumps in the city on a bicycle along with several supporters to highlight the hardships faced by the public due to the fuel shortage.
Targeting the government over rising fuel prices, the city Mayor and urged authorities to take immediate steps to provide relief to consumers.
He demanded that instead of allowing fuel prices to rise, the government should reduce the tax burden to bring down costs and ease pressure on the common people.
The protest has sparked political debate over fuel pricing and supply management, while residents continue to hope for an early resolution to the crisis and restoration of normal fuel services in the city.
