Cyclone Amphan: ECoR Takes Steps To Ensure No Risk To Train Traffic

Bhubaneswar: The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has taken adequate steps to ensure that Cyclone Amphan causes no risk to train traffic.

The general manager of Bhubaneswar-headquartered ECoR has directed railway officials to be on full alert towards any incident like flood-like situation near railway tracks and to ensure safety of trains as well as smooth operations.

Following are the steps being taken by ECoR:

* Close watch on railway bridges, tracks, yards and signalling system

* Silt, vegetation and other obstructions cleared from catch water and side drains

* Close coordination with state govt officials

* Patrolling at vulnerable locations by deputing patrolmen and watchmen

* Sectional gangmen to patrol tracks

* Arrangements made to stock sufficient quantities of track maintenance reserve materials

* Constant watch over Meteorological Department advisories

* Additional Control Room & Disaster Management Cell of ECoR to be opened.

ECoR has already diverted the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi-Bhubaneswar AC Special train via Angul-Jharsuguda-Rourkela-Tata route, bypassing Bhubaneswar-Hijli (Kharagpur) route for four days, in view of the cyclone forecast.
