Cyclone ‘Dana’: Odisha CM Requests All MLAs To Remain Present In Their Constituencies
Bhubaneswar: In view of IMD forecast of Cyclone ‘Dana’ heading towards Odisha coast, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has requested all MLAs to be present in their respective constituencies to coordinate rescue and relief operations.
The chief minister, in his official X handle, on Tuesday said it was necessary for the MLAs to be present in their constituencies to coordinate with the district administrations and in facing the cyclone and resultant heavy rain.
“The legislators can also assist in the rescue and relief operations to be carried out after the cyclone in their respective areas. They should engage in interaction with the people and extend necessary help to the places to be affected by the cyclone,” the chief minister said.
In its latest bulletin, the IMD said the depression eastcentral Bay of Bengal had intensified into deep depression in the last six hours and lay about 690 km southeast of Paradip.
It is very likely to move west-northwestwards and intensify into a cyclonic storm by October 23 and thereafter move northwestwards and intensify into a severe cyclonic storm by the morning of October 24.
It is likely to cross north Odisha and West Bengal coasts between Puri and Sagar Island during night of October 24 to October 25 morning as a severe cyclonic storm with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting 120 kmph, the IMD bulletin said.
