Bhubaneswar: The storm brewing in the Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a cyclone by early Thursday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.

“The deep depression over southeast Bay of Bengal moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 17 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centered at 17.30 hours IST over the same region, about 510 km west-southwest of Port Blair, 1320 km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh) and 1220km south-southwest of Sittwe (Myanmar),” the MeT office said in a special bulletin.

It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and intensify gradually into a cyclonic storm over the same region by early tomorrow morning. Then continuing to move north-northwestwards, it will gradually intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm by May 11 evening and very severe cyclonic storm by May 12 forenoon over central Bay of Bengal.
