“Deep depression has intensified into a cyclonic storm — NIVAR over south-west Bay of Bengal — (Cyclone alert for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts – Yellow Message),” the IMD tweeted.

Weather Forecast For Odisha

Though Cyclone Nivar would have no direct impact on Odisha, rainfall activity with isolated heavy rainfall is likely to occur in some southern districts of the state on November 25 and 26.

Wednesday (November 25)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places in Malkangiri, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput, Ganjam, Kandhamal, and at isolated places over rest districts of south Odisha.

Thursday (November 26)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati.

Under the influence of the above system, squally weather wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 Kmph likely over southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal on November 23 and it would increase gradually becoming 65-75 kmph gusting to 85 Kmph over southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal till November 25.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into deep sea areas of southwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal during this period.
