Cyclone-Resistant Power Infra To Come Up In Odisha’s 4 Dists

Bhubaneswar: With the electrical infrastructure sustaining heavy damage during recurring natural calamities in Odisha, particularly cyclone, the government will set up calamity-resistant infrastructure in four districts in the first phase.

Reviewing the progress of the project here on Thursday, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy directed the departments concerned and power distribution companies to carry out the work on a war-footing basis.

He also told them to form a ‘Think Tank’ for management of technical, financial and legal aspects of the project.

Initially, the infrastructures will be set up in Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak and Balasore districts at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore. In the second phase, the project will be taken up in Puri, Cuttack, Khurda, Ganjam and Gajapati districts at a cost of Rs 8,000  crore.
