Cyclone Titli Damages Railway Properties, Train Services Affected

Bhubaneswar: With cyclone Titli making the landfall at Palasa, the impact was felt at different railways station under East Coast Railways (ECoR). It has caused extensive damage to station buildings, platform shelters and foot overbridge at various places.

According to ECoR sources, signalling pole and over-head electric masts have been damaged at some places between Palasa and Kottabomali stations. A number of incidents of trees falling on tracks have been reported from various places, the sources said.

With Titli having left behind a trail of destruction, the ECoR has decided to cancel, partially cancel, reschedule and divert some trains on Thursday.

Cancelled

01. 22819/22820 Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam-Bhubaneswar Inter City Express from both the directions on 11.10.2018.

02. 22874 Visakhapatnam-Digha Express from Visakhapatnam on 11.10.2018.

03. 12864 Yesvantpur-Howrah Express from Yesvantpur on 10.10.2018.

04. 12509 Bangalore Cant.-Guwahati Express from Bangalore Cant on 10.10.2018.

05. 15227 Yesvantpur-Muzafarpur Express from Yesvantpur on 10.10.2018.

06. 18645 Howrah-Hyderabad East Coast Express from Howrah on 11.10.2018.

Diverted

01. 12703 Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express from Howrah on 11.10.2018 will run via Kharagpur-Tata-Bilaspur-Nagpur-Kazipet.

Rescheduled

01. 22603 Kharagpur-Villupuram Express from Kharagpur on 11.10.2018 will leave at 1805hrs instead of 1405hrs.

02. 18646 Hyderabad-Howrah East Coast Express from Hyderabad on 11.10.2018 will leave at 1200hrs instead of 0950hrs.

Train services on 11.10.2018 will be reviewed again and decision will be taken according to the circumstances, the sources said.

Railway teams, including track specialists, bridge engineers and over-head electricity engineers, have left for the spot for a detailed study of the impact of cyclone Titli between Brahmapur-Palasa and Palasa-Kottabomali.

On the other hand, the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) is yet to activate supply line to Railway Electric Sub-Stations at Jagannathpur and Baruva. This needs to be restored by OPTCL on top most priority for resumption of train services, the sources said.
