Cyclone Update: Jawad Remnants Now 130 Km From Gopalpur, 180 Km From Puri; Check Latest Details, Photos

Bhubaneswar: The remnants of Cyclone Jawad, which has weakened into a Deep Depression, over westcentral Bay of Bengal moved north-northeastwards at 15 kmph in the past six hours and is about 230 km from Vishakhapatnam, 130 km from Gopalpur, 180 km from Puri and 270 km from Paradip, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) bulletin issued at 9 am on Sunday.

“It is likely to move north-northeast wards, weaken further into a Depression and reach the Odisha coast near Puri around Sunday noon. Subsequently, it is likely to continue to move north-northeastwards along the Odisha coast towards the West Bengal coast and weaken into a well-marked low pressure area during the subsequent 12 hours,” the IMD bulletin said.

Squally winds packing speeds of 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph are likely to prevail along and off the Odisha coast on Sunday.

The IMD has issued an Orange warning for Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Mayurbhanj.

Yellow warning has been issued for Ganjam, Nayagarh, Keonjhar, Angul and Dhenkanal.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places over the districts of north coastal Odisha and at many places over rest districts of Odisha.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into westcentral and northwest Bay of Bengal, and along and off north Andhra Pradesh-Odisha-West Bengal coasts during the next 24 hours.
