Cyclonic Circulation Over Odisha To Trigger Heavy Rainfall: IMD Forecast

Bhubaneswar: Most parts of Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall under the influence of two cyclonic circulations, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a mid-day bulletin on Wednesday.

A cyclonic circulation is lying over interior Odisha and its neighbourhood while another cyclonic circulation over north Chhattisgarh and neighbourhood has merged with a monsoon trough from the cyclonic circulation over East Uttar Pradesh to Vidarbha. As a result, there will be continuous rainfall activity in most parts of Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall with thundershower and lightning at one or two places, the IMD said.

In view of the heavy rainfall, IMD has issued a yellow warning for the districts on following days:

July 1
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Kandhamal, and Dhenkanal districts

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore,  Nabarangpur and Kalahandi

July 2
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Koraput, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Balangir, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj

July 3
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, and Dhenkanal

Thunderstorm with lightning at one or two places over coastal Odisha, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Boudh, Angul,  Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj

July 4
Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Sonepur, Balangir, Nuapada and Nabarangpur

July 5
Heavy rainfall at one or two places over Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj
