D-Company Killed Odia Agent For Wrong Delivery: Rakesh Maria

Mumbai: Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria in his recently released book, ‘Let Me Say It Now’, has mentioned about a man from Odisha, who worked for underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

A postal department employee, 30-year-old Rabi Narayan Padhi was allegedly murdered by the D-Gang on January 28, 1994.

Maria has mentioned Rabi’s murder as a case study in the 14th chapter of the book, Tracking the Dispatch To Death.

“He left the house at 9 am and never returned,” he wrote in his book.

Though police found his body with multiple stab injuries near Goregaon in Mumbai later that day, his identity could not be ascertained as the killer had poured acid on the body after strangulating him to death.

Investigation into the death of another postal employee, Satosh Patole, who was shot dead in September that year, finally helped police crack Rabi’s murder case.

According to the book, Padhi used to receive parcels sent from Dubai at the Mumbai Airport. He would change these parcels, containing foreign currency notes and coins in the delivery van and send them to some other addressees as told by the D-Gang.

A mistake in the delivery of the parcels cost him his life in 1994. Anees Ibrahim and Abu Salem had ordered for his murder, the book revealed.
