Daily Caseload Nears 600 In Bhubaneswar, One More COVID-19 Death

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha capital saw this year’s biggest spike of 590 new COVID-19 cases and one death on Thursday.

It had seen 476 new infections the previous day.

According to Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 130 among the new cases are from quarantine and 460 local contacts.

The highest of 46 cases have been reported from Patia followed by 33 from Old Town, 25 from New AG Colony and 20 from Kanan Vihar.

A 79 years old man, who was also suffering from Diabetic Mellitus and hypertension, also succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the toll to 251.

While the patient from Bhubaneswar found mention among seven deaths shared by Health Department, it is yet to be reflected in the cases summary tweeted by the BMC.

The civic body, however, informed about 139 more patients getting cured of the infection since Wednesday.

With this, Bhubaneswar now has 4036 active cases.
