Bhubaneswar: The spike in COVID-19 daily cases after a weeklong declining trend continued on Thursday with 1617 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state had seen 1540 new cases the previous day after a gradual decline in daily caseload from around 1900 on October 20 to 1200 plus on October 27.
According to I & PR department, 941 of the fresh cases are quarantine and 676 local contacts. These cases have been reported from all 30 districts of the state.
The highest of 222 fresh infections have been reported from Khurda followed by 128 from Cuttack and 93 from Sundargarh.
