Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID caseload in Odisha dropped below 500 on Friday as 477 more people tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The state had seen 602 on Thursday, 565 on Wednesday, 545 on Tuesday and 585 on Monday.
Of the fresh infections reported from 22 districts, 74 cases (15.51 per cent) are below 18 years of age.
According to the I & PR department, 278 of the new cases are from quarantine and 199 are local contacts.
Khurda district reported the highest of 200 new infections, followed by Cuttack (62) and Balasore (26). Eight districts reported nil cases.

Odisha has now 5,556 active cases.
With these fresh cases being detected from 65,459 samples, the test positivity rate (TPR) dropped to 0.72 per cent from 0.88 per cent the previous day. The TPR was 0.96 per cent on Wednesday and 1.03 per cent on Tuesday.
