New Delhi: A journalist employed at Dainik Jagran was shot dead in Bihar’s Araria district early this morning after some unidentified men walked into his home and opened fire.

The victim, Bimal Yadav was shot in the chest by four people who arrived at his residence in Raniganj. Yadav died on the spot.

The incident caused a massive uproar at the post-mortem site, News 18 reported.

Police officials, including the Superintendent of Police and a Member of Parliament of the area are present at the site. “A journalist from Dainik Jagran, Vimal, was shot dead by four men at around 5.30 am in Raniganj market area in Bihar’s Araria. The FSL team is at the spot, deceased’s body was taken for post-mortem. Efforts are underway to nab the accused,” Araria SP, Ashok Kumar Singh

Chirag Paswan, leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) slammed the Nitish-led Bihar government for its failure in enforcement of law and order.

Replying to a question on Bihar chief minister’s ‘crime in Bihar is less than other states’ remark, he said, “He (Nitish Kumar) should go show these statistics to families of police officials who lost their sole bread-winner, he should show it to the family of that journalist (shot dead in Araria)”.
