Mumbai: Amid the raging controversy surrounding “Pushpa 2: The Rule” premiere stampede outside a cinema hall in Hyderabad on December 4, a song from the film, which literally translates to ‘Catch Me If You Can’, has now gone viral on social media.
The actor, who is on interim bail after his arrest on December 13, appeared before the Chikkadpally police on Tuesday for questioning. Theenmar Mallanna, a Congress leader in Telangana, has also lodged a police complaint against the Telugu superstar, accusing his latest film of insulting the police force. He has specifically criticised a scene where the protagonist urinates in a swimming pool while a police officer is present in the same pool.
The song ‘Dammunte Pattukora’, released by T-series, shows an intense confrontation between Pushpa (played by Allu Arjun) and police officer Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat (played by Fahadh Faasil).
The lyrics of the song, including Dammunte pattukora Shekhawat (If you’ve got the guts, catch me, Shekhawat!) and “Pattukonte vodilestha syndicate” (If you catch me, I’ll abandon the syndicate) has sparked an online debate with netizens pointing out the apparent link between the song and Allu Arjun’s real-life legal issues.
A user wrote, “Rey ee situation lo release cheydam entra”.
Another posted, “Dedicated to Revanth Reddy!! Enjoy cheyandi naa kodaka CM! Thu.”
Another user wrote, “What a timing.”
“Kani why today?” questioned a user.
“Droppin this banger now that’s straight-up diabolic,” posted another netizen.

Actor Allu Arjun underwent a four-hour long interrogation by the Hyderabad police in connection stampede which left a 35-year-old woman dead and her son critically injured.
On December 22, six people, claiming to be members of Osmania University – Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC), destroyed flower pots and hurled tomatoes at the ‘Pushpa’ actor’s residence. They were later taken into custody but released on bail.
Following vandalism, security was beefed up outside the actor’s Hyderabad residence.
