Dasburma Aide Murder: Odisha CB May Ask Suspects To Take Lie-Detector Test

Puri: Crime Branch (CB) ADG Sanjeeb Panda on Saturday said a lie-detector test could also be conducted in connection with the ‘mysterious death’ of Chitta Ranjan Palei, an aide of BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma.

We have achieved reasonable progress in the case. The probe by the Crime Branch team is moving in the right direction. All the detainees are being quizzed time and again and they could be put to ‘lie-detector test’ if needed,” he said.

Viscera and postmortem reports are expected to be submitted on Saturday, sources said.

The ADG had held a discussion with the 4-member probe team at the SP office here earlier in the day. He along with the team is likely to inspect the spots related to the incident and question Chitta’s family members as well.

Chitta’s family suspect that he was murdered in a planned manner by his friend Jagannath Sarangi, who they alleged is close to Dasburma, over repayment of Rs 3 lakh which the latter took from him. They had earlier demanded that the BJD leader be brought under the purview of the CB probe. Chitta’s wife, however, did an about-turn on Friday and appealed to everyone not to politicise the incident.
