Patna: The ailing Lalu Prasad Yadav needs a kidney transplant. And it’s his Singapore-based daughter Rohini Aacharya who has volunteered to donate, PTI reported.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo, who has been suffering from kidney-related and other ailments for several years, was advised to undergo kidney transplant when he visited Singapore last month.
Lalu was initially not in favour of his daughter donating one of her kidneys to give him a new lease of life, a family member informed. But Rohini insisted and it was also pointed out that the success rate of kidney transplant is high when family a member donates.
Lalu is likely to travel to Singapore around November 20 to undergo the kidney transplant.
The 73-year-old politician, convicted in multiple fodder scam cases and currently out on bail, has been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Delhi.
Rohini, his second daughter, convinced him to visit Singapore and consult medical specialists for a second opinion.
The doctors there were of the opinion that his condition required a kidney transplant, though AIIMS specialists were not in favour of that line of treatment.
