Bhubaneswar: The Kalbaisakhi spell is likely to continue in Odisha till April 26, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Sunday.
Yellow warning has been sounded till April 22. The weather agency has also forecast a gradual rise in the day temperature by 2-4°C after three days.
Thunderstorm/lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph and light to moderate rain may occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nuapada, Kalahandi and Kandhamal districts on April 20.
Similar warning has been sounded for Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada on April 21 and Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam on April 22.
Dry weather conditions are likely to prevail across the state on April 23. Light to moderate rain may resume in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places in Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar on April 24, Malkangiri, Koraput ,Rayagada and Nabarangpur on April 25, and Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Gajapati and Keonjhar on April 26, with little change in the weather condition during the subsequent three days.
