Dead Lizard In Meal: 24 Students Fall Ill After Taking MDM In Odisha’s Bhadrak
Bhadrak: As many as 24 students of an upper primary school were admitted to hospital as they fell ill after taking mid-day meal in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Thursday.
According to sources, the meal was served to the students of the Government Upper Primary School at Khandatada under Bhadrak Rural tehsil in the district as per the daily practice on the day. Later, somebody found a dead lizard in the food.
Following this, the school authorities stopped serving meal to the students. But those, who had already taken the food, felt uneasy and started vomiting.
The teachers of the school including the headmaster rushed the students to the district headquarters hospital at Bhadrak. Dr Ratikant Mallik of the hospital said 24 students were admitted following symptoms of food poisoning. Their condition has become stable after the treatment but they are under observation.
On being informed, block education officer went to the hospital and enquired about the condition of the students and ensured their treatment.
