Death Of POCSO Court Judge: Mother Alleges Murder, To File Complaint With Police In Cuttack

Cuttack: In a new turn to the death of POCSO court judge Subash Kumar Behari in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Friday, his family has alleged that he was murdered.

Judge Behari of Special Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) court was found hanging at his official quarters at CDA Sector-9 in Cuttack.

“Circumstantial evidence hints at suicidal hanging. The rope has been recovered from spot and it will be sent for examination. Further investigation will reveal the reason for death,” ACP Tapas Pradhan had told a local news channel.

On Saturday, Judge Behari’s mother Tulasi Behari told the media that her son was murdered by his in-laws. His wife Aparajita Rai and her brother were involved in the crime, she added.

She further said she would go along with her other son Subodh Behari to file an FIR in this regard at Markatnagar police station in Cuttack later in the day, she added.

According to sources, the judge was on leave since Wednesday and was scheduled to join office on Friday. He telephoned and sought an extension of leave for one more day. Later, the wife of the 49-year-old judge rushed him to the private hospital in unconscious condition. But the doctors of the hospital declared him dead.

The ACP said no one was present in the house at the time of the incident. The police suspected that Behari, who lived with his wife and two daughters, might have committed suicide.
