Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday lauded Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and his team for their impressive performance since assuming office, calling it a year of good governance in Odisha.
The PM said the BJP government in Odisha entirely focused on public service and earning people’s trust in the first year. “Today, 20th June, is a very special day. Today, the first BJP government in Odisha has successfully completed one year. This anniversary is not just of the government; it is the anniversary of the establishment of good governance. This one year was dedicated to public service and public trust. I heartily congratulate the people of Odisha. I also congratulate Chief Minister Mohan Majhi and his entire team,” he said while presiding over the state-level commemorative function.
PM Modi noted that the Odisha government has successfully completed one year, laying the foundation for a brighter and more accountable future for the state. “Our BJP government in Odisha is not just focused on achievements of one year or what will happen in the next five years. It is working with a long-term vision for the development of Odisha over the coming decades. The Odisha government has created a special plan for the year 2036, when the state will complete 100 years of its formation. In addition, the BJP government in Odisha also has a roadmap for 2047, when India will celebrate 100 years of independence,” he said.
He also emphasised on how the double engine government has been fulfilling all the guarantees given during elections. “When the BJP government in Odisha is completing its first year, all of you are busy preparing for Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath. Mahaprabhu is our idol and inspiration and with the blessings of Mahaprabhu, the issues related to the Srimandir have also been resolved. I congratulate Mohan ji and his government for respecting the requests of crores of devotees. As soon as the government was formed here, all the four doors of the Srimandir were opened. Ratna Bhandar has also been opened and this is not a matter of political victory or defeat. This has been done to respect the faith of crores of devotees,” he said.
The PM also mentioned about his recent visit to Canada to attend the G7 Summit. “During my visit, US President Donald Trump called me. He said, ‘Since you’re already in Canada, why not come to Washington too? Let’s have a meal and talk.’ He extended a warm invitation. I respectfully told the President of the United States, ‘Thank you for your kind invitation, but it is essential for me to go to the sacred land of Mahaprabhu’. And so, I humbly declined his offer, because your love and the devotion to Mahaprabhu drew me irresistibly to this holy land,” he said.
