Decomposed Body Of Young Girl Found From Forest In Odisha’s Ganjam

Berhampur: Decomposed body of a young girl was found under mysterious circumstances from a forest area in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday.

As per reports, some local people, who had gone to the forest to collect firewood, found the body lying in a spring near Kalyan Mandap at Taptapani under Pattapur police station in the district.

On being informed, a police team along with scientific team went to the spot and started investigation. They found a huge stone kept on the body of the girl. Her slippers and mobile phone were also found near the body. The police seized the body and sent it for post-mortem. They also took her belongings and the stone for laboratory test.

The girl has been identified as Sangita Pradhan, daughter of Narayan Pradhan of Kudamari village under Pattapur police station.

Speaking to the media, Narayan said Sangita was in a relationship with a youth of Sindupur village under the same police limits. His younger daughter is married to a man of Sindupur.

Naryan suspected that the youth might have killed his daughter. “Sangita had gone missing from the house for the last few days. We were searching for her. Later, we came to know that she had taken some gold ornaments and Rs 22,000 with her while leaving the house.”

“We knew about her relation with the youth of Sindupur from the villagers who had seen them together in nearby bus station. He must have influenced Sangita to elope with her and convinced her to get the ornaments and cash from our house,” alleged Narayan.

The police, who have launched a search to trace the youth, said the cause of Sangita’s death would be known after getting post-mortem report.
