Deep Depression To Intensify Into Cyclonic Storm In Next 12 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The depression centred over east-central and adjoining northeast Bay of Bengal on Friday has intensified into a deep depression, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a morning release on Saturday.

It is expected to cross the south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts around Kalingapatnam between Gopalpur and Vishakhapatnam by the evening of September 26.

The cyclonic storm at the time of landfall will have a wind velocity of 70-80 kmph.

Under the storm’s influence, there will be very heavy rainfall in the south Odisha districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Kandhamal districts.

In view of the inclement weather, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea from Saturday till September 28.
