Mumbai: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone’s love life has always evoked keen interest.
Before exchanging wedding vows with actor Ranveer Singh, Deepika dated quite a few men, including actor Nihar Pandya, cricketer Yuvraj Singh, actors Upen Patel and Ranbir Kapoor.
However, her romantic relationship with actor Muzammil Ibrahim was not known to many.
During a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Muzammil revealed that he dated Deepika for two years before they broke up.
The actor further disclosed that it was Deepika who had approached him first.
“We were in a relationship for two years. She was very confident because she is Prakash Padukone’s daughter, so everyone knew about her,” he said.
“I was a star at that time, she was not. She is a superstar now. Everyone knows her; nobody knows me. I am a big fan. I love watching her movies. She is a beautiful woman. She is doing so great, but the fact is what it is,” Muzammil opened out.
Recalling his relationship with Deepika, the actor said, “We were kids then. We would go on dates in a rickshaw in the rain. That was very cute. I had more money than her because I had started earning better. Then I bought a car and she was very happy about that. These things are very memorable because I have not been on a date in a rickshaw since then, and we were so happy even though we had no money.”
“Even with no money, the DJ would play the song that she liked because I was friends with the DJ. For an hour and a half, he just played that song because it was her birthday,” he added.
Asked if they are still in touch, Muzammil revealed that post their break-up, they were friends until she married Ranveer.
“Before she got married, we would talk sometimes,” he shared.
Deepika was recently in headlines after her exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Spirit.’
As per reports, she was dropped from the film for demanding an 8-hour shift and high remuneration.
Vanga replaced her with ‘Animal’ fame actress Triptii Dimri.
