Angul: In another incident of ambulance failure, a woman in Angul district delivered a baby in an autorickshaw on way to hospital on Wednesday night.
Family members of Kabita Pradhan, a resident of Phuljhari village under Kishore Nagar police limits, contacted 102 ambulance service after she experienced labour pain. When the ambulance didn’t turn up, they decided to shift the expectant mother to hospital in an autorickshaw. However, she delivered a baby girl inside the three-wheeler.
Later, a 108-ambulance was called and the woman and her baby taken to hospital.
The woman’s kin blamed the ambulance authorities for the incident.
Meanwhile, the district collector has directed chief district medical officer to conduct a probe into the matter and submit a report in three days.
