Delhi College Girl’s Killer Wanted To Marry Her But She Wanted To Appear For Govt Job Exams
New Delhi: It turns out that the man who killed 25-year-old Nargis with a rod in a Delhi park on Friday is her maternal cousin Irfan, who wanted to marry her but planned to kill her since she had turned down his proposal. Police said that the accused, Irfan, had planned the murder three days ago and also knew her daily schedule. He knew that she crosses the park every day while going to her stenography classes.
“The accused has claimed that he took the iron rod, which was used in the crime, from his house. He further claimed that he tried to approach the woman on Monday also, but could not meet her that day due to some reasons. We are verifying his claims,” police said, according to NDTV.
Nargis wanted to become financially independent and was preparing for government job examinations, her family said on Friday, reported PTI, adding that Irfan used to live with the family around five-six years ago but was asked to leave after he allegedly started harassing Nargis.
Notably, Nargis and Irfan’s mothers are real sisters.
The accused has been arrested.
Nargis’s brother Sameer told PTI, “Around six months ago, our family turned down the marriage proposal of the accused. My sister did not want to marry him. Irfan is from Auraiya in Uttar Pradesh and came to our house around five to six years ago. My father trained him as a mechanic.”
“My sister was a bright student. She did her graduation in Hindi honours and was preparing for government job exams,” Sameer added.
This is not the first such case in Delhi. A few months back, a jilted lover bludgeoned a young girl with boulders in full public view because she had turned down his marriage proposal.
