Delhi Court Summons Gautam Gambhir; Know Why

New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday issued summons to BJP MP and former Team India opener Gautam Gambhir.

It’s in connection to a suit filed over alleged unauthorized construction of a library on Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) land at Priya Enclave near Karkardooma court, which was meant for a dumping yard.

Himanshu Raman Singh, Additional Senior Civil Judge of Karkardooma court, issued the summons asking Gambhir to appear on December 13.

The petitioner’s advocates filed a civil case against Gambhir and MCD, seeking an order restraining the East Delhi MP from using the alleged illegal structure and demolish it.

According to the petitioner, Gambhir in connivance with MCD officials unauthorisedly constructed a library on MCD land which was earlier being used for dhalao (dumping yard).

The petitioner alleged that MCD officers removed the dhalao from the said land, measuring 300 square yards, before Gambhir took physical possession of the same without taking valid permission.

The petitioner has mentioned that a complaint was sent by BJP MLA Anil Vajpayee to Delhi’s Lt Governor on this matter.

An article published in a national daily on October 7, in which Gambhir allegedly said that he did not taken permission from any authority, was also referred to in the petition.
