New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed Juhi Chawla’s civil suit against rollout of 5G technology on the grounds that it was “defective and not maintainable” and also imposed a fine of Rs 20 lakh.
The veteran Bollywood diva had moved the high court raising issues related to impact of radiation on citizens, animals, flora and fauna. Her petition stated that 5G will lead to RF exposure to all living beings on earth and that will be 100 times more than the current level.
The court observed that “vexatious allegations” have been made by the petitioner. As per the order, the plaintiffs had abused the process of law and hence imposed an additional cost of Rs 20 lakh payable to the Delhi state legal services authority.
On the matter of the virtual hearing being disrupted two days ago by a man who started singing songs from the actress’ films, the court directed Delhi Police to identify the person(s) and take action against him/them.
The bench also rejected the prayer for stay on costs, telling Juhi’s counsel that the matter is already over and that as a counsel he “should know his limits”.
