New Delhi: Odisha is among a number of states to have adopted a paperless and digital legislative process through the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) process.
Delhi, which last month signed an MoU with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for implementation of the project, is looking to learn about the process from Odisha.
Vijender Gupta, Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, will embark on a three-day visit to Bhubaneswar for this purpose.
IANS quoted an official of the Delhi Assembly Secretariat as saying that the objective of Gupta’s tour, from April 15 to 17, was to study best practices, technological frameworks, and operational models adopted by Odisha in implementing NeVA effectively.
Gupta had announced during the last Budget session that Delhi Assembly would become paperless within 100 days.
Gupta will be accompanied by Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, senior officials of Delhi Legislative Assembly, and other personnel associated with the NeVA project.
Expressing hope that the upcoming visit will help accelerate Delhi Assembly’s digital transformation, Gupta said the Assembly was looking forward to adopting a more transparent, tech-enabled and citizen-centric approach to legislative functioning through swift implementation of NeVA.
Gupta and his team will pay courtesy visits to Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on arrival in the state capital on Tuesday.
The delegation will meet the committee on NeVA and also Odisha Legislative Assembly Speaker Surama Padhy on April 16.
The final day of the tour will be dedicated to wrap-up meetings and further discussions with stakeholders involved in the NeVA implementation.
NeVA, a project under the Digital India initiative, aims to transform the governance landscape in the country with a paperless and digital legislative process.
The initiative enables members of legislature to access information like Bills, notices, questions, and committee reports more directly on their devices, eliminating the need for physical paper documents.
