Bhubaneswar: A proposal for providing pension to journalists is under the consideration of the Odisha government, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi informed the state Assembly on Thursday.
Answering a question by BJP MLA Sidhant Mohapatra, the Chief Minister said that requests for providing pension to journalists have been received by the government from various organisations. This proposal is under the consideration of the government.
The Chief Minister further stated that journalists working in print, electronic, digital and web media approved by the Information and Public Relations department are being provided health insurance coverage under the Gopabandhu Journalists’ Health Insurance Scheme.
The scheme provides working journalists with health insurance coverage, enabling their families to access cashless treatment up to Rs five lakh at empanelled hospitals
