Berhampur: The first case of dengue was detected in Berhampur on Thursday.
Surya Behera, a resident of the town, was suffering from fever and visited MKCG Medical College and Hospital on June 21 for treatment. Doctor collected his blood sample and its tested positive for dengue. “He is currently undergoing treatment at the dengue ward of the hospital and his condition is stable,” a doctor said.
Meanwhile, the district administration has decided to conduct a series of awareness drives in Berhampur and nearby areas to sensitise people about dengue fever and its symptoms. “It is also intended at motivating the public to keep their surroundings clean and prevent breeding of dengue larvae,” an official said.
