Mumbai: The nexus between Bollywood and underworld dons is not something new.
While several Bollywood biggies had admitted getting threat calls from the gangsters, some actors were under the scanner for their close associations with them.
Like other successful actors, the reel ‘Don’ Shah Rukh Khan too was once threatened by the gangsters.
Describing the incident as ‘depressing and scary’, Shah Rukh admitted that he used to get threat calls from gangsters Abu Salem and Chota Shakeel during his early career.
In the book titled ‘The King of Bollywood’, Anupama Chopra wrote that during the making of ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai’, gangster Salem used to call SRK and threaten him to sign a film of his producer friend.
However, unfazed by the threats, SRK bluntly told the gangster, “I don’t tell you who to shoot so don’t tell me which film to do.”
Following this incident, Shah Rukh was provided security by the Mumbai Police.
