Deserted Bhubaneswar Roads On Holi As People Play Colours At Home

Bhubaneswar: Roads in Bhubaneswar wore a deserted look on Monday with the Odisha government banning Holi celebrations at public places in the state in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Following the ban, people were instead seen playing Holi with ‘abira’ with family members at home.

In an official order on March 19, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) had stated that keeping the sentiment of the people regarding the festival, they may celebrate with family members in their houses only, “not in any public places including public roads.”

The Commissionerate Police has also deployed around 15 platoons of force along with 20 PCR Van and striking forces in crowded markets, bathing ghats and various places in the city.

Strong action will be taken against those found violating the COVID-19 safety guidelines issued by the government.
