DGCA Directs Airlines To Refrain From Booking Tickets

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Sunday issued a notification asking airlines not to book tickets from May 3.

National carrier Air India on Saturday had announced that it would take bookings for select domestic flights post-May 4 and from June 1 for international destinations.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri asked all airlines to open bookings only after the government gives a go-ahead and that airlines will be given sufficient time to restart operations.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar clarified earlier in the day that the government has not taken a decision on when to restart trains and flights and that “it has to start one day but which is that one day you don’t know at this moment. Discussion about it is futile because we are examining the situation every day and drawing new lessons.”
