DGP Reviews Security Measures For Dual Polls In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In order to ensure a free and fair elections, Director General of Police (DGP) Arun Kumar Sarangi reviewed the security arrangements in Odisha’s Malkangiri district on Monday.

During his visit, the DGP reviewed the situation near Gorasetu of Swabhiman Anchal in the district and then held a meeting with the SPs of four districts, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and the Border Security Force (BSF).

The meeting, which took place in Malkangiri SP’s office, was also attended by ADG Operation Dev Dutt Singh, Intelligence Director Soumendra Priyadarshi, DIG Intelligence KB Singh, DIG Charan Singh Meena and SP Nitesh Wadhwani.

The security measures in the light of Maoists’ movement from across neighbouring Chhattisgarh were analysed in  details, sources said.

While the election in Chhattisgarh is scheduled for May 19, Malkangiri will go to polls on May 13. Considering the gap of almost a week in the two elections, the DGP emphasised on keeping a strict surveillance on the movement of Maoists in forest areas.

It may be noted that the voters of Swabhiman Anchal will cast their votes in local booths for the first time during this election.
