Ahmedabad: Rahul Gandhi is never far away from a controversy.

In the latest row, triggered by a viral video, Rahul and the Congress party have been facing flak after party supporters apparently welcomed him in Gujarat’s Junagadh by playing a Pakistani song.

The video circulating on X was shared by BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, who slammed the Congress for its “love for Pakistan”.

“When our soldiers guard the borders against Pakistan, Congress supporters sing Pakistani tunes for their leader. For Rahul Gandhi, loyalty to India comes last,” Bhandari said, calling it “shameful.”

Rahul was in Junagadh to participate in the ‘Sangathan Srujan Abhiyan’ (campaign to strengthen the organisation) organised by Congress in the BJP-ruled state.

The Congress hit right back, picking on the Sunday’s highly controversial India versus Pakistan Asia Cup match in Dubai, and accusing the BJP-led Central government of hypocrisy for allowing the men to blue to play against Pakistan.

“Government of India says Operation Sindoor is still continuing, and at the same time you play cricket, it’s hypocrisy. On one hand, you are afraid of Pakistan, and on the one hand you are fighting. It is just to cover up the wrongs of the BJP they are trying to blame others,” Congress leader Udit Raj said.

Meanwhile, Rahul continued his ‘vote chori’ tirade against the Centre.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Congress camp in Junagadh, Rahul mentioned the turmoil in Manipur and acknowledged it was good that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is finally visiting the northeastern state ravaged by ethnic violence for almost two-and-a-half years.

“But the main issue in the country is that of ‘Vote Chori.’ The election mandates in Haryana and Maharashtra were stolen. People everywhere are saying ‘Vote Chori’,” the Leader of Opposition said.
