Digital Teaching Without Internet? Odisha Schoolteacher Comes Up With A Technique

Berhampur: In order to enable the students to avail digital teaching in remote areas not having internet accessibility, a schoolteacher in Ganjam district has come up with a new technique.

Surjya Narayan Sahu, Headmaster, Deo Patana Primary School in Mundamarai under Dharakote block demonstrated his digital technique with the help of in-built Wi-Fi connection at Patasala Primary School to students, teachers and villagers on Tuesday.

Speaking on his system, Sahu said one needs a smart television set, a smart phone, Wi-Fi dongle and solar power to run the TV set. The sets can be activated through local area network (LAN) of the wi-fi unlike that of the railway stations in India by connecting it to a smart phone. Just download the teaching programme online and teach the students offline, he added.

He also downloaded the online teaching videos of OSEPA, MADHU APP etc and showed those to the gathering.

Different educational videos (both curricular and extra-curricular) available in YouTube can be uploaded through this technique and a teacher, who does not know drawing, painting, drill, yoga, dance etc, can conduct these classes easily, the headmaster said.

“Digital teaching is the need of the hour as the world is changing at a rapid pace. Our students should be imparted teaching through digital platform to make them successful citizens of the country,” Sahu said.

He further said besides helping the education sector, this system can enable the government to take its welfare schemes to the people easily. Government agencies like SHG, Anganabadi and Panchayat Raj workers can also demonstrate the government policies and planning to the people, he added.
