The service will be available twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

While opening the sale of tickets for these two destinations last month, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said that the initiative will promote job opportunities for the youth of Odisha, open up tourism potential of the state and also provide a boost to IT and ITES sectors in the state.

He also hoped that these international flights would provide tourists more convenience and affordable travel options while also encouraging trade and tourism.

The state capital was directly connected to Dubai by air from May 15 with IndiGo’s Airbus-320 operating from here thrice a week. The CM had launch the ticket sale of the flight on Utkal Diwas that is April 1. The flights to Dubai are all booked till mid-June, according to TOI.

In December last year, the Odisha cabinet had given its approval to a plan to start direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Dubai, Singapore, and Bangkok. “Planes having 186 seats will be operated and the expenditure will be borne by the state government. The revenue generated from ticket sales will be retained by the state government,” the then Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra had said.
