Disha Salian Death Case: Mumbai Police Issues Notice To BJP MLA For Questioning

Mumbai: BJP legislator Nitesh Rane was on Thursday served a notice by Mumbai Police in connection with Disha Salian death case.

The MLA from Maharashtra’s Kankavli constituency has been asked to appear before police officers for questioning on June 12.

Celebrity manager Disha, who also managed the late Sushant Singh Rajput’s career, was found dead on June 14, 2020 – just six days before the actor was found hanging in his Bandra apartment.

According to police, 28-year-old Disha committed suicide by jumping from the 14th floor of a highrise building in Malad. Even though her father Satish Salian was completely satisfied with the investigation by Mumbai Police and did not suspect any foul play, Rane called her death a murder.

He even alleged the involvement of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray, son of then-chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.

The police, now under a different government, will ask Rane about his claim and seek evidence if he has any.

“I have just received the summons and I have been saying this since day one that this is a case of murder. I am ready to cooperate with the Mumbai Police. The MVA government wanted to do a cover-up and save Aditya Thackeray and his other friends… Whatever information I have, I am ready to give it to the police,” Rane told ANI.

Last year, Rane accused police officers who had handled the Salian death investigation of doing a sloppy job and hastily submitting a closure report.

In December 2023, Mumbai Police formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to reopen the case.
