Berhampur: Police have arrested a young doctor for allegedly cheating a girl after promising to marry her in Boudh district.
According to sources, the Medical Officer of Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kantamal in Boudh district, Dr Tapan Kumar Satpathy was in a relationship with the girl of Chhatrapur in Ganjam district.
Dr Satpathy, who is a PG student of MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur, came to know the girl there. Though the doctor developed intimacy with the girl on promise of marrying her, he later got married to another girl.
Following Dr Satpathy’s marriage, the girl lodged a complaint with Mahila Thana and police arrested him.
“We have registered a case under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against Dr Satpathy,” police said.
