Balasore: In a tragic incident, a doctor died suddenly while attending to patients at Nilgiri Hospital in Odisha’s Balasore district on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Dr Trinath Pal, a specialist in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department.
According to hospital sources, the doctor was examining patients in the OPD when he suddenly complained of severe chest pain. He went inside the washroom for a moment, but collapsed onto a bed immediately after coming out.
He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Balasore, where attending doctors declared him dead. The sudden demise of the on-duty doctor has created a wave of shock and grief among colleagues, patients, and the local community.
After learning about the incident, Balasore MP Pratap Sarangi visited the hospital and met the bereaved family members, offering condolences.
While the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, preliminary reports point to a suspected cardiac arrest.
