Bhubaneswar: Special rituals are underway at the Jagannath temple in Puri on the occasion of Dola Purnima on Thursday, while the state gears up to observe Holi on Friday.
Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are adorned in gold jewellery for the special Suna Besha.
Thousands of devotees have already thronged Badadanda to catch a glimpse of the deities of the 12th-Century shrine. On Thursday, the deities will go to Dola Bedi and play with colours for Holi. The divine siblings come from Ratna Sinhasan to Dola Bedi just to play Holi with the devotees.
Notably, Lord Jagannath is worshipped as Dola Govinda during Dola purnima.
Some foreigners were seen playing Holi in Konark. They used herbal colours with turmeric and sandal etc.
Devotees had started playing Holi at Banke Bihari Temple in Vrindavan. Thousands of devotees from all parts of the country have thronged the temple. Devotees used to celebrate Holi for five days at this temple.
