Dhenkanal: A man flung his seven-month-old daughter to death in an inebriated state following a spat with his wife at Kantapal village under Kankadahad police limits in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Monday.
According to sources, Sanjay Chatar, a daily wage labourer from Udasaahi village in Mayurbhanj district, was living with his in-laws at Kantapal, He was unemployed for the past several months, which had led to frequent family tensions.
An argument erupted while Sanjay was returning home with his daughter and wife, Janani Munda, from collecting rice from a local ration dealer. In a drunken rage, he then allegedly threw his infant daughter to the ground near the village road, causing her immediate death. Sanjay also suffered severe injuries as his wife attacked him with a glass bottle in an attempt to protect her baby.
Police have launched an investigation, and the infant’s body has been sent for postmortem, the sources added.
