Early Availability Of Vaccine Is Good News For Odisha Cops, Know Why

Bhubaneswar: While the drive to innoculate healthcare workers (HCWs) is expected to complete by February 10, the Odisha government has decided to vaccinate the frontline workers (police, armed forces and municipal workers) from Saturday (February 6).

They will preferably be vaccinated at their respective offices, the press release issued by the Health and Family Welfare department said.

Additional chief secretary (Health) P K Mohapatra said that decision was taken after the Union Health Ministry informed the state government about early availability of 1.46 lakh doses of the vaccine.

Odisha will soon get 1,46,590 doses of two vaccines, including 63,090 doses if Covishield and 83,500 doses of Covaxin.

Supply of vaccine to the districts for frontline workers have started and collectors and municipal commissioners asked to identify vaccinator teams for the campaign, he added.

Meanwhile, the vaccination of HCWs resumed on Wednesday after a three-day break due to polio immunization. Their second dose will start from February 15.
