Bhubaneswar: In the light of COVID-19 pandemic, ECoR Central Hospital at Mancheswar, here is now utilising a medical robot called Med Robo to assist hospital staff to serve the patients and manage the medical wards in providing medicines and food without physical contact.
With the help of the robot, doctors, nurses and other medical staff do not have to repeatedly wear PPE kits before entering the COVID wards for routine rounds. It will help them stay away from the risks of contracting the infection.
The MeD ROBO is operated through a mobile app that has been developed as part of the innovation, supported by the WiFi facility. It supports sensor based features, which are capable to read patients’ body temperature and transmit the same for display on the mobile phone. In case of high temperature reading, the MeD ROBO is capable of raising an alarm so as to alert the staff attending to the patients.
